## Key Concepts
**Service** = A defined support or activity you provide to participants (e.g., "Personal Care," "Community Access," "Support Coordination")
**Line Item** = NDIS-specific support item code (e.g., 01_011_0107_1_1)
- You can group multiple line items under one service for easier management
**Service Category** = Broad grouping of services (e.g., Core Supports, Capacity Building, Capital)
**Roadmap** = The list of services you'll deliver to a specific participant
**Price** = The rate you charge for a service (can differ by participant or funding source)

## Service Setup Workflow
### 1. Plan Your Services
Before creating services in Comm.care:
- Review your NDIS registration groups
- Review your PAPL (Price Arrangement and Price Limits)
- Identify services for other funding sources (CHSP, MDS, fee-for-service)
- Determine pricing structure
### 2. Create Services in Comm.care
- Go to **Organisation > Services**
- Click **Create New Service**
- Fill in details:
- Service name (what you call it internally)
- Funding source (NDIS, CHSP, MDS, etc.)
- Line items (for NDIS)
- Default price
- Travel and cancellation policies
### 3. Configure Service Details
- Set billing increment (e.g., 15 minutes, 1 hour)
- Configure travel allowances
- Set cancellation notice requirements
- Link to service categories for reporting
### 4. Add to Participant Roadmaps
- Go to participant's Circle
- Add services to their Roadmap
- Customize price if different from default
- Set start and end dates
### 5. Use in Daily Operations
- Create appointments from roadmap services
- Staff create progress notes for delivered services
- Generate invoices based on progress notes

## Best Practices
✅ **Group line items sensibly** - Combine related NDIS line items under one service (e.g., all "Personal Care" line items)
✅ **Use clear service names** - Name services how your team refers to them (not just NDIS codes)
✅ **Set realistic default prices** - Base on NDIS price limits or your standard rates
✅ **Document travel policies** - Clear rules prevent disputes later
✅ **Review regularly** - Update prices when NDIS price guide changes
✅ **Test before rollout** - Create a test Circle and appointment to verify configuration
